AACfamily Friday (week 5)
Welcome to #AACfamily Friday (week 5)! Wondering what #AACfamily is? Read about it here. For more #AACfamily photos and fun, check out Uncommon Sense Blog after you are done here.
I did not have any submissions this week - and was not able to snap any pictures to post. But I have collected a few videos and posts from across the web that tell the stories of AAC users around the world.

Kreed's World: A Complex Journey Through Autism shares a video of using an AAC system to help work through an escalation (angry moment).
AssistiveWare (developer of the Proloquo2Go AAC app) has been sharing YouTube videos all month. They all feature their app, but all also tell great stories of AAC users. I am not promoting this app (appropriate AAC systems need to be determined through an evaluation of feature-matching). However, the stories of communication are beautiful. Here are a couple:

Now Hear Me This website is out of Scotland. "The site is a gateway to information and advice, ranging from a basic video introduction through to a set of e-learning modules that will help everybody to better understand AAC."
I hope you have enjoyed the #AACfamily Friday posts in celebration of AAC Awareness Month 2014. For me, it has been about sharing stories that give real meaning to AAC (and raising awareness), but also break down barriers and help all AACfamily members feel a little less alone. Good news! Dana at Uncommon Sense (and originator of AACfamily Fridays) received such a positive response to AACfamily Fridays that she announced she is going to make it a regular feature on her blog (the last Friday of every month). If you are a member of the AACfamily, I hope you will consider contributing throughout the year. Now, go check out Uncommon Sense Blog's post!
